Why do my page links look wrong?

Why Your Page URLs Don’t Match Your Page Names
Understanding why your page URLs don’t match your page names.

You click into your analytics or share a link…and the page name says one thing, but the URL says something completely different.

Something like:

/new-page-1 or /services-2

It looks wrong. It feels unfinished. And it’s usually a really simple reason.

When pages are first created, most platforms give them a default name.

Something quick. Something temporary.

And a lot of the time, that name sticks. Even after the page itself is updated, renamed, and finished.

Nothing is broken. It just means one small step didn’t get updated along the way.

It doesn’t usually stop your site from working.

But it can:

  • make links look a little off

  • feel less polished

  • make things harder to recognize later

This is one of those small things that’s easy to miss and quick to fix once you see it.

Most of the time, it’s not a big problem. Just something that didn’t get updated.
