What I Do (And Don’t Do) As a Virtual Assistant

Updated: 4 days ago

Ever met someone who says, “I have a virtual assistant,” and you nod like you get it—but deep down you’re wondering if that means calendar management or conjuring spells?

Spoiler: it’s neither. At least, not in my case.

I’m a virtual assistant, which means I help small businesses and solo entrepreneurs get things done behind the scenes—quickly, efficiently, and without needing 17 emails to do it. But there's often a lot of confusion about what VAs actually do, so let’s break it down: what I do do, and what I definitely do not.

What I Do As a Virtual Assistant

My job is to be your behind-the-scenes brain and right hand when it comes to admin and tech tasks you either:

a) don’t have time for,

b) don’t know how to do, or

c) absolutely refuse to do (no judgment).

Here’s what that can look like:

  • Fixing the things you didn’t know were broken on your Wix or Squarespace site

  • DIY Website Support (aka: you want to do it yourself, but with a lifeline)

  • Website Reviews so your homepage stops hiding your best stuff

  • Maintaining and editing websites without blowing up the backend

  • Creating Scribe tutorials to walk you or your clients through how to do the techy stuff

  • Blogging on your behalf (if you provide the bones, I can dress it up and publish)

  • Creating presentation materials and Canva templates

  • Customizing and formatting documents or visual content

  • Inbox-friendly admin support like formatting, scheduling, and task automations

  • Facebook group admin duties if you’ve got a group that needs an extra brain behind it

  • Time-saving systems setup so your day doesn’t run you

  • Automating simple, repetitive tasks like reminders or form replies

  • DIY website fixes under 5 minutes that make you look like you spent hours

In short: I make things work, look right, and stop breaking.

What I Don’t Do

Now let’s clear the air on what I don’t do. If you’re looking for someone to become you online, do full-blown design work, or take over customer service? I’m not your person (but I might know someone who is).

Here’s what’s off my plate:

  • Managing your social media

  • Posting as you on your social channels

  • Interacting with comments or DMs on your behalf

  • Designing your brand, website, or graphics from scratch

  • Writing your full website copy or advertising content

  • Running ads or marketing campaigns

  • Fixing your personal devices or home tech (I’m good, but not that good)

  • Serving as your customer support team

  • Selling products or services for you

  • Managing your personal or business email inbox

  • Touching your personal calendar with a 10-foot pole

It’s not because I don’t want to help. It’s because I actually want to help. And doing tasks I’m not built for (or licensed for) would waste your time and mine.

TL;DR?

I’m the tech-savvy, admin-loving, detail-oriented brain you can borrow when you're tired of tech gremlins and half-finished to-do lists. I don’t replace your designer, marketer, or customer service rep—but I’ll happily work with them, make your tools easier to use, and give you your time back.

You focus on doing what you do best.

I'll quietly make sure your buttons work, your automations run, and your site stops yelling in Comic Sans.

Working with me is by referral only — if someone sent you here (smart friend alert), you can reach out through the contact form to see if I’ve got space on my calendar.
