Don’t Hit Publish Yet: The 10-Minute Pre-Launch QA Checklist

Updated: 4 days ago

You built a website — high five! You picked your colors, dragged the buttons into place, maybe even fought with the mobile layout until it looked okay-ish. You're feeling pretty proud (and you should!).

But before you hit that shiny “Publish” button, do me one favor:

Test it.

Not with code. Not with tools. Just with your finger and your brain.

Because nothing kills the vibe faster than a broken link or a “Page Not Found” when someone’s just trying to learn more about you.

Your 10-Minute Pre-Launch QA

This isn’t a full tech audit. It’s a real-world, “make sure your site doesn’t betray you” checklist:

Click Every Link

  • Top menu, footer, buttons, logo.

  • On your phone and your computer.

  • Do they all go where you expect them to?

Check Your Images

  • Are they loading quickly?

  • Are they stretched, cut off, or oddly sized on mobile?

Actually Use Your Phone

  • Don’t assume it works.

  • Open your site on a real phone. Tap every button. Scroll around. Does anything look wonky?

Look for Typos + Leftover Template Text

  • I’m looking at you, “Your Company Name Here.”

  • Make sure your business name, services, and headings are all yours — and spell-checked.

Favicon Check

  • That little icon in the browser tab? It should be yours, not the Wix/Squarespace default.

Test Your Contact Form

  • Fill it out. Hit submit.

  • Did you get the email? Or is it lost in the void?

Pro Tip:

Set a timer for 10 minutes and run through this checklist. You’ll be amazed at what you catch — and how much smoother your site feels after.

I only work by referral right now (a.k.a. no surprise DMs, please!), but I do share quick fixes and relatable tech tips here and on the blog.

So if you’re staring at a broken button wondering “why me?” — grab the checklist, try again, and know I’ve been there too.

You’ve got this.
